Rebecca Johnston
I am a self-taught artist, designer, musician, miner, mineral collector, and passionate nature enthusiast. With a degree in fashion design and merchandising, along with experience in graphic and digital design, creativity has always been at the heart of everything I do.
As my artistic journey evolved, I deepened my exploration of realism, focusing on highly detailed mineral portraits using pastels, charcoal, pen, and paint. I’ve collaborated with mineral photographers, working from their reference photos, while also capturing my own collection to create and share. This has led to commissioned mineral portraits of collectors’ most treasured specimens.
While minerals remain my primary artistic focus, I also love bringing imaginative worlds to life through my enchanted concept portraits—a passion project where I merge human and animal subjects with the beauty of nature, evoking a sense of magic and wonder.
Beyond my own artwork, I enjoy sharing my knowledge through teaching. I currently teach charcoal drawing at North Seattle College and have recently launched online demonstrations and classes, making art education more accessible to a wider audience.
As long as I’m creating, I’m truly living. Thank you for being part of my journey.
